The Coach Casey Classic 2025

In 2022, our community suffered the tragic loss of Casey David Schaftlein.  He loved making music and after graduating from Lexington Recording School he was successfully working at a recording studio in Louisville.   He struggled with bipolar and he failed to receive the necessary medical treatment that was required and left him feeling isolated due to the stigmatization around medication. Mental illness is sometimes hard to visualize in someone. This leads to many individuals going untreated and lacking the resources they need and feeling ostracized by the many people who fail to understand or see it.

This year we are hosting The Coach Casey Classic Golf Scramble to honor Casey and his family. Our hopes is this event will help reach others by raising awareness for Mental Illness and destigmatize necessary treatment. Our community lacks proper education and services aimed at supporting those in our community affected by mental illness. This is where NAMI Louisville is here to step in!

The Coach Casey Classic Golf Scramble is set to be held October 3th, 2025 but is in need of donations to help us reach more individuals and families affected by Mental Illness. Any and all donations will go directly to providing free programs, services, and research to Kentuckiana to help to make a decisive change in those who struggle with suicidal thoughts or live with mental health conditions.
